Queer Day Trip

Location: Tōtara Park

Date: 5th July 2025

Author: Nick Mahon (+ gourmet chicken tender acquirer)

Participants: Elliot Heckler (thanks for driving/babysitting), Erina Brown, Amie Cummack,

Hazel Hogan-Murphy

A steady group of five headed out from the uni clocktower (well four, we picked Hazel up on the

way because she slept in). We drove past four police cars doing a drug check of a very bright

yellow car, and proceeded out of central AKL. To Tōtara Park we went, did a nice lil loop of the

bush and the rain was held at bay for most of the trip. Then had a great picnic on top of the

playground, and Hazel scared the child away by saying “hello child” in the most condescending

voice possible (such chaos). We consumed a kilo of spring rolls (thanks Erina), and discovered

chocolate and hummus was an edible but not preferred combination.

Then, we proceeded to Why Knot (best outlet food store in South AKL). This was a great way to

top off the trip, and I got some great coconut/lemongrass/chili chicken tenders. The group

slayed, Amie found her desired carrot crackers, and it was a slay Saturday.
