Website Info
Well, here we are. A brand spanking new Tramping Club website. It's a lot different than the old one. This page will give you some information about the site and what you can do here, it'll (hopefully) be kept up to date as new features are added.
OK, so whata we got...
New prettyness
There is a completely new theme, as you can probably see, it's designed to make better use of space, and best of all it isn't brown!
Brand new front page layout
The front page now displays news items, so major club events and news will automatically be shown on the front page. We can also make these items 'sticky' so that they stay at the top of the listing (if we have something particularly important to get across).
New calendar and events system
The events system has been updated, at the moment it's pretty much on par with the old events system, but new features are currently in the planning stages.
Post your trip reports
There's now a dedicated trip reports section. All trip reports posted will be considered for footprints so get posting!
Re-vamped wiki
The wiki has been fully moved from the old website and tidied up. As it's a wiki you should feel free to add your knowledge for the good of everyone!
New forums
There are now some nice new forums where you can ask questions about upcoming trips, socials, gear, etc. There's also forums where you can just chat to your fellow trampers.
New easy to use gallery
The gallery is now much improved and all photos are hosted on this site (rather than the old mish-mash of flickr and another gallery we used to have). There are so many photos currently in other places, so we haven't moved them all accross yet, but we're working on it. In the meantime, post as many photos as you want.
Other features
There are to many little improvements to mention but here are a few:
- Much improved security and spam protection.
- RSS feeds on major pages.
- New user menu, with quick links for adding content, etc.
- Nice menus!
Post your feedback/problems/ideas
I'm eager to hear peoples opinions on the new site, as well as take suggestions for new features, please post these in our website suggestions forum. I also want to hear if anyone has any problems with the site, for which there is a website problems forum. You can also contact me directly via website [at] autc [dot] org [dot] nz.
