Federated Mountain Clubs Youth Scholarships
Hi All,
Federated Mountain Clubs (FMC) will be awarding Youth Scholarships for the first time in 2011. Members of its affiliated clubs are allowed to apply.
FMC newsletter on the scholarships scheme. The purpose of the scheme is
to encourage people to lead trips for their member clubs and to generally take leadership in
encouraging other young people in the outdoors.
This is a really great opportunity for club members to
get funding for expeditions and to further their skills through outdoors
training.
So start dreaming about a cool expedition or training that you would like to undertake. And help out with the great cause of getting more young people into the outdoors by leading trips and helping out with your member club! :-)
You can download the criteria and an application form for the Scholarships here.
Applications close in April 2011.
About FMC (Federated Mountain Clubs)
FMC’s objectives are to promote:
- our clubs’ activities
- training and safe use of the backcountry

FMC has a proud history. It was founded in 1931 and has worked
tirelessly in the interests of trampers and climbers for nearly 80
years. The FMC liases directly with other NGO’s, Government Departments
and Politicians whenever required. FMC used to be the sole body
organising training in the outdoors and Search and Rescue but in the
past 80 years FMC has been instrumental in bringing into creation the Mountain Safety Council and later NZ LandSAR
