Take in the view.
The photo was taken on the descent Ngauruhoe in early winter. The majestic Ruapehu can be seen in the distance, along with Mount Tama and the Tama Lakes just below us .
Our 10-persons strong group was on a north-south traverse of Ngauruhoe. After an early morning push up to summit, we were greeted by the view of the snow covered surrounds. The weather was perfect, but the day was not without its quirks; the rather "innocent" chattering, overly tight boots and some amazing tumblings. It was to be 13 hours before we reached the next hut to settle in for the night.
Other notable events on the trip included liquious jelly, cripples, credit card wind screen defrosting, lazybone's brave traverse of Mt. Tama, super-women's climb of Te Huehue and, that mouth-watering piece of steak after 4 days on the mountain.
