Back Bountry Bush Bash
Submitted by Anton Gulley on Fri, 20/08/2010 - 18:01Hey everyone,
Waitakere Mudbash, Sun Aug 22 2010
Submitted by The Wyse One on Tue, 17/08/2010 - 16:05I'm running a daytrip to the Waitakere Ranges on Sunday the 22nd. We
will walk around the Anawhata valley and have a lot of fun crossing a
couple of (small) streams and wading through massive amounts of mud (at
least I have been told so and last weekends experience verifies that).
The trip will require moderate fitness, but little experience/skills other than pulling your boots out of the mud.
I recommend bringing weather gear as showers are expected for the day. Also snacks and lunch should be brought individually.
Trampers! Have you seen bones or dung recently?
Submitted by Jane Dudley on Thu, 12/08/2010 - 17:25********* This is not a practical joke *********
Hi Trampers,
An expert botanist, Dr. Anne Gaskett from Auckland University is looking for sightings of bones and dung in the Waitakeres. Splachnae mosses grow on bones and dung, so if you sight these, please take a photo (ideally) and if you can, take the grid reference for the location.

SAR Talk Notes
Submitted by robconnolly on Tue, 03/08/2010 - 13:46For those of you who didn't make it to the last trips launch, our committee
member Matthew Lillis (who has been involved with search and rescue for
some time) gave an excellent talk on the search and rescue process, what
to do to avoid getting into trouble in the bush, and what to do if you
do find yourself in a spot of bother. The notes from this talk follow,
and I strongly advise you all to take the time to read them.

Anybody want to be a film star?
Submitted by Kat on Mon, 12/04/2010 - 09:47Hey all....
Anybody fancy being a film star for a few days? I've just recieved an email from an AUT film student who's looking to put together a movie about the Hilary Trail, and wants a few trampers to help out. To quote:
"I am a film student from AUT and for an assignment I am creating a video about the Hillary Trail (in the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park) for the Auckland Regional Council. The video will play in the Arataki information centre as well as the Hillary Trail website.
