Piano for O'nuku!
Hey everyone,
Have posted this thread to get some ideas going for getting us a piano in O'nuku (especially after seeing the photos at Hut Birthday of past members doing it!).
Had a look on trademe... there are some cheap pianos going ... we can probably pick one up quite cheaply (tho odds are it won't be in tune). Looks like can prob get one of decent quality for <$200 or even <$50 but again, may need tuning.
The idea would be to get the piano out there at the next event at the hut, most likely the Xmas Party.

There are some challenges to solve...
1. Locating and buying a piano.
- do you know anyone that is looking to get rid of one or sell cheaply?
2. Tuning
- Do you know anyone who can do this (hopefully onsite)?
3. Transport along the muddy track to O'nuku!
- this is an old 4WD track called Ridge Road starting from Anawhata Road...
- currently ideas involving lots of people pulling and pushing a car trailer with added ropes, winches and some aspiring civil engineers building bridges across the mud, holes, and ditches for us have been proposed... but your thoughts and ideas are welcome here! Its going to be a mission and a lot of fun!
The thing to keep in mind is that an upright piano weights somewhere in the range of 130kg!
Feel free to post ideas on how to solve the above challenges and also any things which I've missed.
Craig.
