If anyone still checks these forums: Looking for advice on fiordland area tramps

Hey guys.

I'll be heading down south in December to visit a friend who's currently in Blenheim, with the idea of doing a two week tramping starting with the Queen Charlotte and ending in the Fiordlands, probably via the Routeburn and Kepler. The trouble is she wants to spend a lot of time "getting lost" the green bush, but neither of us have massive experience nor formal training to do the more demanding routes that DoC etc reccomend.

Does anyone have personal experience with moderate-grade trails in the Fiordlands (or nearby) that they'd recommend, off the beaten track?
